Tanya Donahue, President and Owner of RIKB Design Build, provides her team and her clients with proven strategic capabilities, backed by her strong record of success. Bringing over 30 years in the home building and remodeling industry, her focus is to create, communicate, and implement the organization’s vision, mission, and overall direction. Tanya’s design build firm ranks as one of the largest in the New England region. RIKB has ranked in the national remodeling Top 500 and 550 firms for many years and has received the Guild Quality Top 100 service award from Qualified Remodeler Magazine for the last two years. In 2020 she was selected as Kitchen & Bath’s Design News Innovator Honoree.
Tanya is an active member of the Rhode Island Builder’s Association, serving as the former co-chair of the Remodelers Committee and currently serving her second term on the Board of Directors. She received the 2015 Prism award for marketing, the 2017 Professional Remodeler magazine Extreme Sales Leader award, served as judge for the national Qualified Remodeler’s Design Awards, and has been asked to speak at Harvard Universities Joint Center for Housing Studies and on National Industry Panels. Under her leadership the company has received Rhode Island’s Best Places to Work award for the last four consecutive years.
Her leadership style can be categorized by innovation, creativity, and care for her team. Today, dozens of employees and thousands of satisfied clients have benefited from her leadership style. With a lifelong passion for construction and craftsmanship, Mike Sr. brings decades of hands-on experience and an unwavering commitment to quality to his role as Owner of RIKB Design Build. Drawn to building and design from an early age, his passion evolved into a career defined by precision, artistry, and dedication.
Before purchasing RIKB Design Build with his wife Tanya in 2018, Mike owned and operated Donahue Woodworks, a high-end custom cabinetry business renowned for its exquisite, detail-rich kitchens that seamlessly blended form and function. His work quickly earned a reputation for exceptional quality and timeless design, laying a strong foundation for his transition into full-scale home renovations.
At RIKB, Mike plays a key role in mentoring the production team and guiding projects from concept to completion. He ensures every remodel—from kitchens and baths to multi-room transformations—is executed with precision and professionalism. His in-depth knowledge of materials, construction techniques, and workflow optimization enables him to bring even the most complex designs to life.
Known for his high standards and collaborative spirit, Mike is deeply committed to helping each client’s vision become a reality. When he’s not on-site or in the office, you’ll likely find him spending time with his family or out on the water, enjoying a day of boating.

Michael grew up immersed in the world of custom kitchen building, working alongside his dad from a young age. This hands-on experience taught him the importance of craftsmanship, attention to detail, and the value of hard work. Under his father’s guidance, Michael honed his skills in cabinetry design and construction, learning how to transform raw materials into beautiful, functional kitchen spaces. He gained a deep understanding of the entire construction process, from initial planning and design to the final installation.
His apprenticeship wasn’t just about learning technical skills; it was also about understanding the significance of client relationships and effective communication. Michael saw firsthand how his dad interacted with clients, ensuring their visions were brought to life while maintaining high standards of quality and service.
At RIKB Design Build, Michael’s favorite part of his role is following a project from concept to design to production. The thrill of seeing the final product in the client’s home never gets old or lessens the “wow” factor, no matter how many jobs they produce. Outside of work, Michael enjoys spending time with his wife Diana and family, relaxing at the beach, boating, and playing golf.
